American Banker and BAI Announce the 2016 Global FinTech Forward Rankings

Industry-standard ranking takes the measure of a consequential and fast-growing industry; provides data and insight on 145 companies in 15 countries

New York, NY (October 5th, 2016) – American Banker and BAI today released the 2016 FinTech Forward rankings, including the full list of the Top 100 technology providers; the Top 25 enterprise companies in FinTech; and the FinTech Companies To Watch, innovative companies that represent the future of financial services technology.

American Banker and BAI have collaborated on the FinTech rankings since 2004, beginning with the Top 100 FinTech providers, expanding to the Top 25 Enterprise FinTech firms, and adding the FinTech Companies to Watch category in 2015. This strategic alliance reaches the largest, most influential and most engaged community of executives and technology leaders in financial services bar none.

For the second year in a row, India’s Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) captured the No. 1 spot for the Top 100 technology providers to banking and financial services companies. In all, some 15 countries were represented in the 2016 rankings.

IBM led the 2016 Enterprise list, which recognizes major diversified technology providers to the financial services industry (but for which FinTech represents less than one-third of total revenues) is dominated by firms that specialize in areas like cloud-based services, big data, and support of mobile offerings. A full report that incorporates all the rankings, including the Companies To Watch — high-impact start-ups and other recent market entrants bringing new approaches to FinTech — will be unveiled at BAI Beacon 2016 and is available at FinTechForward.com.

American Banker Technology Editor Robert Barba said:“Financial services companies face a constant need to up their digital game. The companies we recognize through FinTech Forward are giving banks the tools they need to augment legacy technology, better understand data and provide customers with products that hold up across the digital universe.”

Debbie Bianucci, President and CEO of BAI said, “As financial services leaders look to strengthen engagement with customers and meet their ever-growing compliance challenges, the organizations represented in the FinTech Forward rankings truly provide the industry with powerful tools to drive positive change.”

As in previous years, the Top 100 and Top 25 Enterprise rankings were categorized and evaluated based on self-reported and estimated calendar year 2015 revenues attributed to financial services.
